How should we respond to this viral outbreak? Let’s consider the commands of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”

Here are some of the scriptures I shared in this video:

Psalm 119:105
James 1:5
Joshua 1:9
Psalm 23
Philippians 4:6-7
John 16:33
Romans 8:35-37
John 13:34-35
Philippians 2:3-4
John 3:16

Using the scriptures above, here are questions we can ask and reflect on, both individually and with our children:

1. What are the different emotions I am feeling as I think about this situation?
2. What does it mean to “be on your guard” and “stand firm in your faith”? How do we do this when life seems confusing and uncertain?
3. Where does courage come from, and what does real courage look like?
4. What should I do when I feel anxious and afraid?
5. How is Christian love meant to be unique?
6. Why does the love of Jesus turn us outward instead of inward?
7. How can we specifically and practically love others right now?

Prayer: Father, give us faith to see Your great power over all things. Give us a deep sense of Your love and care for us. Please protect all of us from sickness, and please heal those who are now suffering. Please give us wisdom to live in a way that honors You, give us courage to face every trial for Your glory. and give us a love that always seeks the good of others. Please bless our leaders with wisdom, courage and love. Please bless doctors and nurses. Please be gracious to our neighbors all over the world as we fight this together. Above all, please bring people into the saving grace of Jesus. In His mighty name we pray, Amen.
